In a recent blog post, the Rangers 2 team announced that after an extensive period of testing and bug fixing they were ready to open up Alpha access. Players can now join in on all aspects of development as it happens with no need for lengthy beta periods.
The “aberdeen vs rangers 2021” is a football match that will take place in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, March 2nd. The match will be played at Pittodrie Stadium and is scheduled to start at 7:45pm BST.
Rangers won for the first time in Group A thanks to Leon Balogun’s header.
Rangers defeated Brondby at Ibrox in one of their most complete performances of the season, according to manager Steven Gerrard, reviving their Europa League knockout ambitions.
At the third try, a Leon Balogun header and a Kemar Roofe tap-in – after a parried Alfredo Morelos header – earned Gerrard’s team their first points, lifting them off the bottom of Group A.
Morelos, who was attempting to score his 100th Rangers goal, and replacement Scott Arfield both struck the post as the visitors were denied further goals to solidify their lead.
Rangers are a point behind the Czechs and six behind the French at the halfway point of the group after Lyon’s comeback victory at Sparta Prague.
After a lackluster performance against Brondby in Glasgow, the Scottish champions will be unfazed by a trip to Denmark.
“If you look at the performance across 90 minutes, it’s probably up there,” Gerrard remarked.
“We deserved to win; we played with great control and elegance, and we could have scored a few more goals.”
“We’ve played incredibly well for 45 or 60 minutes, but for some reason we haven’t been able to continuously get to the point where we’re cranking out 90 after 90 minutes, so that’s the most satisfying thing for me today.”
Morelos’ scoring record this season – five goals in 15 games – was criticized by Gerrard before of the game as falling short of the expectations he has for his attackers.
Following losses to Lyon and Sparta, the visit of the struggling Danish champions – Brondby are now in sixth position in their domestic league – presented the perfect opportunity for the striker and Rangers to regain their cutting edge.
On the brink of half-time, the Colombian had already challenged Thomas Mikkelsen with a 20-yard attempt when he left the goalkeeper helpless with a whipped effort, only to be denied by the upright.
Midway through the second quarter, Mikkelsen thwarted Morelos once again, with the 25-year-old glumly limping off to be replaced by Fashion Sakala.
Centre-back Balogun had set the tone with his first goal for the Rangers. Under a barrage of missiles from Brondby supporters, James Tavernier whipped in an inch-perfect corner, and Balogun outmuscled Morten Frendrup to force a header past Mikkelsen.
When Andrija Pavlovic stabbed a near-post attempt wide, Brondby should have been level, and their indiscipline was quickly punished.
Morelos received a perfect delivery from Joe Aribo, but he went right at Mikkelsen, whose parry was slammed in by Roofe. After a VAR assessment, Croat referee Fran Jovic awarded the score after raising the offside flag to silence home supporters’ celebrations.
Rangers seemed to be safe and sound with a two-goal lead and half an hour remaining. Brondby’s main danger came from Rangers mistakes, with Borna Barisic’s terrible backpass allowing Mikael Uhre to shoot wide.
When Aribo’s darting run was stopped by Sigurd Rosted, the midfielder was rightfully angry that he wasn’t granted a penalty.
Balogun’s night was cut short as he tweaked his hamstring and had to make way for Calvin Bassey.
Rangers could have extended their advantage in the dying moments, but Arfield smashed a Scott Wright cutback against the crossbar, and Sakala was stopped one-on-one by Mikkelsen.
Joe Aribo was named Man of the Match.
Rangers assaults were highlighted by the midfielder’s driving dashes, which exuded quality.
What did we discover?
Rangers are still not firing on all cylinders, but this was a professional display and a crucial victory as they attempt to reach the knockout stage for the third consecutive season.
While Morelos’ form remains elusive, Roofe is proven to be a consistent goal scorer for the club, with the Jamaican international scoring eight goals in 14 games this season.
Rangers’ greatest threat was complacency on the other end, as they gifted Brondby a handful of opportunities that stronger teams would have capitalized on.
What did they have to say?
“The players delivered the gameplan we laid out,” Rangers manager Steven Gerrard told BT Sport. You may pick out little instances, but for the most part, we controlled and dominated. It’s quite close to the 90-minute performance we’d hoped for.
“Our Europa League campaign has officially begun. In a few weeks, we must repeat this performance and get the same outcome. It will be really intriguing if we succeed. We’ve put ourselves in an excellent position. It will be a fantastic job if we can get this bunch out.”
