The Timberwolves have a pretty good shot at having a successful season in 2021. One of the reasons for this is that they are likely to have one less player on their roster than they do now.
The minnesota timberwolves roster is a list of players that will be participating in the Timberwolves’ training camp for the 2021 NBA season.
The NBA season in 2021-22 has yet to begin, but the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 2021-22 are already embroiled in scandal when ex-general manager Gersson Rosas was dismissed just days before training camp began. It wasn’t the best way to start a campaign in which they want to make substantial gains. All the Timberwolves can do now is move on and concentrate on the next season in order to make the playoffs.
The Timberwolves will have a tough battle, particularly considering they are in a strong Western Conference. Minnesota, on the other hand, seems to be up to the task, based on how it handled the summer. The Timberwolves, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, want to concentrate heavily on defense this season. Patrick Beverley is the guy who is said to have played a major part in establishing the hound attitude Minnesota needs on that end of the floor.
Beverley was acquired by the Timberwolves in exchange for Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez, who had recently been dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies nine days before. The 33-year-old has brought a good attitude to training camp and has been a big impact on the Timberwolves. His influence, particularly on Minnesota’s increased focus on defense, has been palpable. Jake Layman, a forward with the Timberwolves, praised the defensive-minded guard’s leadership and direction for setting the tone for the club.
Jake Layman stated, “I believe Pat Bev’s given a nice fresh enthusiasm for us on defense.” “Not just while he’s on the court, either.” Even when he’s not on the court, he’s always talking to us, telling us where to go, and even helping us out. It’s been fantastic.”
Pat Bev might be the kind of guy Minnesota is looking for. He isn’t the most skilled player on the squad, but his effort and enthusiasm can certainly rub off on a team looking to gain an advantage, particularly on defense.
Last season, the Timberwolves were one of the league’s worst defensive teams. According to NBA.com, they had the third-worst defensive rating of 114.5 and allowed 117.7 points per game, the second-worst in the league. Minnesota was also the poorest in the league at defending the three-point shot, ranking dead last in 3-point % allowed (39.2 percent). They were also third-to-last in opponent field goal percentage, at 48.8%.
Defense takes a lot of work, and it seems that the intensity that Beverley has brought to training camp is catching on with the rest of the team. In two preseason games, they’ve shown their increased toughness on the defensive end, putting out much more effort and energy to cause turnovers. Their defense has translated into a higher-octane attack that could be entertaining to watch this season.
D’Angelo Russell’s name may have generated the most buzz at Timberwolves training camp. Patrick Beverley, on the other hand, has already made an impact on this young, up-and-coming team in a short amount of time.
