Stone Ocean, the 23rd installment in Hirohiko Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga series was released on November 6th and features a score composed by Kohei Tanaka. This is not the first time that Tanaka has worked with this property but as he explains to Anime News Network, it certainly felt like his most challenging project yet thanks to all of its new concepts and ideas.

The “how many jojo manga are there” is a question that has been asked time and time again. The answer is currently at 69. This article will talk about the challenges of creating music for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.

The composer of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has spoken out about the difficulties of writing music for the new season, Stone Ocean! Fans have awaited the sixth installment of Hirohiko Araki’s original manga series for so long that it’s become a real dream come true for not just fans, but also those engaged in the production of the new anime. It’s a significant game changer of a season since it’s the first edition to premiere exclusively on Netflix throughout the globe, and it’s also the first to include a heroine at the center as the new Joestar.

Yugo Kanno (who has been composing the music for the anime since Stardust Crusaders) opened up about the challenges of composing the music for this newest season and Jolyne Cujoh herself in an interview with Netflix as part of the celebration of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean now being available for fans worldwide. Kanno began by discussing his general approach to theme composition “When it came to writing music for JoJo’s, I focused on…well, each series has its own cast of characters. As a result, the task is to compose music that emphasizes each character’s individuality.”

Kanno went on to explain what he was looking for with Jolyne’s compositions, elaborating on this aspect further to discuss some of the special problems for Stone Ocean’s anime “Because this is the first time with a female lead, bringing forth femininity was crucial. She’s a strong heroine, therefore I wanted to merge her femininity with her strength and courage in battle. The most difficult component of this series was bringing these elements together.” Fans may decide these themes for themselves now that the new season is available on Netflix!

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean is officially described as such by Netflix. “2011 in Florida, USA. After a vehicle accident with her lover, Jolyne Cujoh is framed and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Green Dolphin Street Prison, often known as ‘The Aquarium,’ is where she ends up. Jolyne is distraught as she holds her father’s necklace in her palm and a weird power arises inside her. ‘There are worse fates than death, and those in this jail are about to experience them.’ This message is delivered to her by a mystery boy. Unprecedented occurrences occur one after the other. Jotaro Kujo, her father, discloses a horrifying secret and names a guy called Dio during their stay. Will Jolyne Cujoh ever be able to break away from this’stone ocean’ of a prison? A century-old war between Dio and the Joestars reaches its peak in the midst of this.”
